The Merchant of Venice Rococo 26 – There are perfume releases that make me curious. And then there are perfume releases that make my heart beat a little faster. The Merchant of Venice Murano Exclusive Rococo 26 belongs to the second group.

The moment I saw the first images, I knew this was going to become one of my most anticipated fragrances of the year. Caramel. Cocoa. Tonka bean. Madagascar vanilla. All wrapped in saffron, cloves, and precious benzoin. It sounds warm, luxurious, mysterious… Tell me… how am I supposed to stay calm?

If you know me, you probably know exactly what I’m thinking. This is going to be one of those perfumes. The kind I’ll either fall hopelessly in love with…or dislike from the very first sniff. There is rarely anything in between when clove and caramel are involved.

But this time?

I truly hope it will be love at first sniff.

And Rococo 26 isn’t the only new fragrance release I’m excited about. Chloé Cedrus has also caught my attention. But while Chloé Cedrus makes me curious, Rococo 26 feels personal. You can read my first impressions of the Chloé release here.

I Fell in Love with This Brand Before I Even Smelled a Perfume

Can I confess something?

I fell in love with The Merchant of Venice long before I ever sprayed one of their fragrances.

Yes, really.

Some perfume houses attract you because everyone talks about them. Others because they follow the latest trends. But The Merchant of Venice caught my attention for completely different reasons. It was the beautiful name, the fascinating history behind it, the atmosphere it creates, and the sense of mystery that surrounds every creation.

There is something incredibly romantic about a fragrance house inspired by the ancient Venetian trade routes – journeys that connected East and West and brought precious spices, rare woods, exotic flowers, luxurious fabrics, and ancient books to Venice.

As you discover the notes, you can almost imagine the journey behind them – the spices carefully carried across distant lands, the treasures arriving in Venice, and the inspiration transformed into perfume.

I have always been drawn to brands that know why they create fragrance. And this is exactly the feeling I get from The Merchant of Venice.

They don’t release fragrances simply to add another launch to the market. Their creations feel intentional. They have character, a story, identity, and soul.

When you choose a fragrance from The Merchant of Venice, you are not simply choosing a perfume. You are choosing beauty, craftsmanship, history, and art — something that feels increasingly precious in today’s world.

And that is what makes this house so special.

The Merchant of Venice Rococo 26 – Inspired by an Era of Pure Opulence

The Merchant of Venice Rococo 26 Eau de Parfum Concentrate - new perfume release

The inspiration behind Rococo 26 couldn’t be more perfect.

According to The Merchant of Venice, the fragrance opens a door into the opulent world of Rococo – an artistic era filled with beauty, theatrical elegance, exquisite ornamentation, and extraordinary attention to detail. Let’s imagine the grand Venetian palaces: rooms decorated with blue velvet, golden mirrors, sparkling chandeliers, and magnificent Murano glass reflecting the warm glow of candlelight.

The fragrance opens with the warm, spicy touch of saffron and clove. As it develops, the heart reveals a beautiful combination of jasmine and Indonesian patchouli, with a soft caramel sweetness adding a delicious gourmand touch. As the scent settles on the skin, tonka bean, cacao, and vanilla create a smooth, velvety finish.

Rococo and Rococo 26 – Similarities and Differences

The clove and jasmine are still there, while the benzoin and cocoa carry the story forward. But with Rococo 26, everything feels richer and warmer.

Instead of the sparkling brightness of bergamot, we are introduced to the luxurious warmth of saffron. And rather than olibanum leading the opening, caramel takes center stage, adding a deliciously smooth sweetness to the composition.

Tonka bean and Madagascar vanilla transform the dry down into something softer, creamier, and more sensual. It feels less like a reinterpretation and more like Rococo growing up into an even more decadent world.

If the original fragrance represented elegant Venetian architecture, The Merchant of Venice Rococo 26 feels like the lavish celebration taking place inside – surrounded by candlelight, exquisite details, and unforgettable beauty.

The Merchant of Venice Rococo 26 – Could This Become One of the Best Gourmands of the Year?

It certainly has all the right ingredients.

But creating a memorable gourmand is not as simple as adding beautiful notes together. Too much caramel, and the fragrance can become overly sweet and sticky. Too much vanilla, and it can lose its personality. Too much patchouli, and the sweetness can disappear beneath its earthy character. Too much saffron, and the composition risks becoming sharp or medicinal.

The real magic comes from finding the perfect balance between all these contrasting elements – and that requires experience, creativity, and a true understanding of fragrance.

Thankfully, The Merchant of Venice has repeatedly shown that balance is one of its greatest strengths.

And that is exactly why my expectations for Rococo 26 are so high.

The Merchant of Venice Rococo 26 – The Bottle Is Pure Venetian Art

For The Merchant of Venice Rococo 26, the signature deep Venetian blue is decorated with elegant golden details inspired by the lavish ornamentation of the Rococo era. The luxurious gold cap and the delicate tassel complete the design, creating a bottle that would look just as stunning in an art gallery as it would on a perfume collector’s shelf.

Who Might Love Rococo 26?

Based only on the notes, I think this fragrance could be perfect if you love:

  • Elegant gourmand perfumes rather than sugary desserts
  • Warm spicy fragrances with depth
  • Resinous vanilla compositions
  • Rich autumn and winter scents
  • Luxury niche creations

If you’re looking for something playful or candy-like, Rococo 26 may not be your style. But if you appreciate warm spices, smooth vanilla, cacao, and precious resins woven into an elegant composition, this release could be worth watching.

Final Thoughts

I don’t know what else to say. I was planning to write a short introduction to the fragrance, but look where we are again! I think I’ll stop here for now and wait for the moment when I can finally try Rococo 26 for myself.

One thing is certain. If it truly is love at first sniff, you’ll definitely be the first to hear about it here on Fragrance Passion Blog.
